Staley earns honor

Former Decatur standout Joe Staley earned a spot on the NAIA All-American team announced Thursday.

The junior catcher batted .440 with 92 hits, 12 home runs and 69 RBIs for the Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals. During the season, he had a 24-game hitting streak while also drawing 40 walks to build a .543 on-base percentage. Defensively, he committed just one error.

He was also named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
