Paradise drops pair; Lady Panthers fall in sweeps

Starting over with a completely new rotation, the Paradise Lady Panthers could not stay up with a pair of Class 3A opponents Tuesday.

The Class 2A Lady Panthers fell to Bridgeport in three games, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22. Paradise fell to Celina, 25-7, 25-20, 25-15.

“We’re young, and it’s going to take a while to get there,” Burt said. “We’re still learning what to do.”

Against Celina, the Lady Panthers were overmatched by the Lady Bobcats’ front line.

Celina cruised through game one, holding Paradise to just seven points.

The Lady Panthers played closer in game two, falling by five.

In game three, Celina jumped out to a 15-4 lead. Paradise cut the deficit to eight 16-8 before Celina built its advantage back to 13, 23-10.

Allison Caruthers led the Lady Panthers with three kills. Makenna Burt and Courtney Andrews added two each.

Andrews finished with five digs and a block. Burt and Caruthers finished with three digs each.

Against Bridgeport, Jennifer Buell finished with 12 digs. Burt put down four kills, and Andrews added three. Andrews also made nine digs.
