Students’ labor made it possible

By | Published Thursday, June 3, 2010

I want to thank the high school students from Decatur and Bridgeport High Schools, the teachers, parents and businesses who contributed to the recent community service project at Wise Hope Shelter.

In less than 48 hours, they had demolished an outbuilding, removed the debris, landscaped the yard, cleaned the interior of the shelter and built a new perimeter fence. All of this was organized by Ricky Stutt, Skills USA teacher at DHS.

These young people were amazing with their enthusiasm and willingness to do whatever was asked of them. This type of community support is what makes Wise County such a wonderful place to live.
