For the second consecutive year, Logan Rayburn, 9, was named Top Wide Receiver at the Sports International Jay Novacek Football Camp at the University of North Texas in Denton.

Rayburn, the son of Joe Mac Rayburn of Richardson and the great-nephew of Dana McCarroll of Decatur, is a straight-A student at Bowie Elementary school in Richardson and plays for the Texas School of Football’s North Texas Wrecking Crew.

Two of his teammates also won top awards at the June Novacek camp. Jack Topping was named Outstanding Offensive Lineman, and Drew Wylie won Best Quarterback, giving the Wrecking Crew a sweep of the offensive awards.

Logan is the grandson of Decatur native Patty Horan of Dallas. His great-grandparents, the late Mac and Chloe McCarroll, were longtime Wise County educators, and Decatur Middle School was recently renamed in their honor.

“I am proud to win the award where my family went to school,” Logan said of the honor at UNT, the alma mater of his great-grandparents and great-aunt. His aunt Dana retired after a stellar career coaching girls’ basketball in Duncanville.
