Decatur Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a special-use permit to serve alcohol at a restaurant on the courthouse square.

The permit is being sought for a private club at 113 N. State St., site of a planned South Beach Taco Factory and previously occupied by the Courthouse Caf .

The permit is permissible under the city’s regulations.

A public hearing on the matter will be held during Tuesday’s meeting at city hall at 6 p.m.

If the P&Z approves, it will go to the city council for final approval.

Property owners within 200 feet of the building were contacted. Most were neutral to the request or in favor, but one was opposed.
