Fourth of July Activities

4th FEST – Runaway Bay’s 4th Fest was to be Saturday, July 3. Activities were to start at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center area. There were to be children’s activities, food and craft booths, live entertainment 6 to 9 p.m. and fireworks around 9:30, at dusk. The golf cart parade is at 6:30 p.m. The Runaway Bay Police Department encourages all visitors to arrive early in order to find parking. No parking will be allowed on the westbound shoulder of U.S. 380. Since a majority of the attendees come from the eastern part of the county, traffic will be released utilizing both lanes eastbound at the conclusion of the fireworks.

PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION – Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise was to host a Patriotic Celebration at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, which were to include music, drama, video, a parade of honor for all military men and women and a fireworks show.

RED, WHITE AND BOOM – Victory Family Church in Decatur holds its “Red, White and Boom!” event Sunday, July 4. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with snacks, bounce houses, a water slide and a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

ON PATROL – The Wise County Sheriff’s Department will patrol Lake Bridgeport in its boat and will use its bike unit to patrol Wise County Park July 2-5.

OFFICES CLOSED – All Wise County offices will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
