A Decatur man was charged with intoxicated manslaughter after his involvement in a fatal accident on U.S. 380 Sunday night, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Trooper Lonny Haschel.
Colton Ashcraft was taken to the Denton County Jail following the accident that killed Tina M. Enis, 40, of Krum.
According to Haschel, Enis was eastbound at 8:55 p.m. in an SUV and was slowing to make a right turn into a business near Farm Road 2622, about two miles east of the Wise/Denton county line.
Ashcraft was also eastbound in a pickup and crashed into the rear of Enis’ vehicle.
The SUV went into a ditch and rolled. The pickup came to a stop in the business parking lot.
Enis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ashcraft was taken to Denton County Jail and had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon. His bond is set at $75,000.
Ashcraft’s passenger, Robert Wolfe, 48, of Decatur was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center for treatment, Haschel said.
Enis was restrained by a seatbelt, while Wolfe was not. It is unknown if Ashcraft was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident is under investigation.
Ashcraft has previously served a one-year sentence at the Wise County Jail for firearm theft and possession of methamphetamine.
