Edwin and Betty Schluter of Denton (formerly of Rhome) will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Denton on Sunday, Aug. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. The party will be hosted by children and grandchildren.

In observance of their anniversary, they were honored with a reception at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse in the Patriot room. The couple also celebrated on a Caribbean cruise with 28 family members and friends July 18-25.

Edwin and the former Betty Yarbrough were married Aug. 26, 1960, at Cole Chapel in Denton.

Their children are Dan and Carol Schluter of Justin and Alan and Kristy Schluter of Ponder. They have two grandchildren, Alex and Tye Schluter.

Edwin is a farmer and rancher, and Betty is a retired business teacher from Decatur ISD and Northwest ISD. They are members of the Alliance Church of Christ. Their favorite hobbies are traveling, including cruises to Alaska, the Mediterranean, Panama Canal, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

The couple represents the third generation in each of their families to celebrate a golden wedding anniversary.
