Auto sales increased in Wise County from March to April according to registration records in the office of County Tax Assessor-Collector Monte Shaw.
In April, the county registered 287 new vehicles, compared to 218 registered in March. Used car sales were higher in March, 128 compared to the 110 in April.
The county’s most popular brand, Chevrolet, led in both car and truck sales. In March, James Wood Motors sold 22 Chevy cars and 48 Chevrolet trucks. In April, 20 Chevrolet cars were sold and 86 trucks, including five vans.
April GMC truck sales amounted to 69 units, up from the 44 sold in March.
Karl Klement Ford sold seven cars and 52 trucks in April, up from the three cars and 42 trucks sold in March. Klement Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep sold 20 new and 20 used vehicles in April, down from the 26 new and 22 used sold in March.
Wood’s Hyundai dealership sold 20 cars in April and one truck, compared to 18 cars and six trucks sold in March.
Wood sold a total of 207 new vehicles in April, up from the 147 sold in March.
GMAC provided most of the financing, with 102 loans in April and 59 in March. First State Banks continued to be the top local lender, financing 21 vehicles in April and 39 in March. Ford Motor Credit provided financing for 23 units in April and 18 in March.
