As you look forward to the many community activities taking place in October, there are two events in particular this week that I encourage you to attend.
The Greenwood Fall Festival, sponsored by the Greenwood Extension Education Club is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. You’ll enjoy a parade beginning at 10 a.m., and immediately following, handcrafted arts and craft booths will be open. Featured activities will be children’s train rides, food and game booths and door prizes.
Booth space is available for $10 by contacting Gerry Galloway at (940) 466-7997 or Marilynn Collins at (940) 627-5175.
For those unsure of finding Greenwood, it is a short, scenic drive out of Decatur on Farm Road 51 North for 10 miles to FM 1204, turn left and travel five miles into the community.
The second event is the annual National 4-H Week Fashion Show at David’s Western Store in Decatur. The show is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, and will feature Wise County 4-H’ers modeling fine western duds.
Each year more than 50 young men and ladies strut their stuff in the presence of parents, relatives, friends and visitors while celebrating National 4-H Week. Heather McGilvray, fashion-show coordinator, and the 4-H show committee promise that this year will be just as exciting, so join us as we celebrate “Taking the Lead” in 4-H 2010.
For more information on these activities, call the Extension office at (940) 627-3341.
