Twenty-two Wise County 4-H youth participated in the District Nutritional Quiz Bowl contest Dec. 1 in Olney.
In this contest, 4-H youth in the Food and Nutrition project are quizzed over nutritional content, kitchen safety, food nutrition labels and MyPyramid.
Participants include Jodie Wells, Marisol Millan, Logan Moore, Christian Cross, Anne Marie Wells, Sydney Keating, Bailey Keating, Slayton Pruett, Caitlin Pruett, Morgan Barnes, Shelby Vanover, Sarah Beavers, Lyndi Luttrull, Fallon Sachse, Emily Egle, Clayton Egle, Cydney Bailey, Katelyn Schedcik and Marisol Chandler.
A team consisted of Ty Watson, Thaine Laaser and Michaela Cross took the first-place title for the junior division. Great job to all of the Wise County 4-H participants!
District Leaders for Life contest results
Four Wise County 4-H senior members competed Dec. 9 in the Leaders for Life contest in Haskell. Leaders for Life is a four-part contest: Quiz Bowl, Community Service Interpretation, Parliamentary Procedure Demonstration and a question and answer session.
Participants study Robert’s Rules of Order, Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens” and various Texas 4-H publications to prepare for the contest.
The team of Bailey Morris, Shawn Herndon, Amber Orr and Kendall Vawter took second place and is looking forward to competing next year. Excellent work, 4-H’ers.
